Cabin Bags
When you have booked a ticket with only hand luggage, or cabin bag as it is also called, it is from our range of cabin bags that you should look. Here you will find a complete selection of cabin bags and we are confident that you will find the cabin bag that suits you best.
We have a large selection of different colors, shapes, and features within cabin bags. All cabin bags from EPIC have full interiors with packing straps and dividers, as well as several practical pockets depending on the model. When traveling with a cabin bag, it can be smart to have a top bag, laptop bag, or briefcase equipped with a strap on the back to attach it to the cabin bag’s telescopic handle. This relieves your back and shoulders when walking long distances between gates, for example. The cabin bag rolls on its wheels with all your luggage on top.
Here we provide some answers to the most common questions about cabin bags. If you don’t find answers to your specific questions here, don’t hesitate to contact us.
Hard or soft cabin bag?
There are advantages to both. A soft cabin bag is usually lighter and has external compartments for easy access to newspapers, tickets, and more. A hard cabin bag protects the contents a bit better, especially if the cabin is full and the bag must be checked in.
There are also hard cabin bags with separate external compartments padded for laptops and tablets. The SPIN and Phantom SL models have separate external compartments; the advantage of these is that even if you choose a hard cabin bag, you can still have easy access to your laptop as both models have specially padded laptop compartments.
Two or four wheels?
A cabin bag with four wheels is easier to maneuver, especially if you are also traveling with a large suitcase to check in or when walking down the aisle on the plane.
A cabin bag with two wheels offers a bit more space inside as the wheel construction allows for a larger packing volume inside. All wheels on an EPIC cabin bag are carefully selected and have undergone quality control. The wheels roll easily and have a softer tire material that makes them quiet and contributes to shock absorption. Many EPIC models have so-called “EPIC Standard” wheel fittings, which means the same wheel fitting is used, making it easier to replace wheels.
How big can a cabin bag be?
The dimensions for a cabin bag vary between airlines. All bags from EPIC follow the most common dimensions 55x40x23cm or 55x40x20cm. Several models have an expandable function, where the cabin bag is equipped with an extra zipper all around. Opening it increases the depth of the cabin bag by 3 cm from 20cm to 23cm. On the product page, the depth is then listed as 20/23cm. Always check with the airline which dimensions apply.
How much can a cabin bag weigh?
The weight limit varies greatly between airlines, generally between 8–10 kg. Always check with the airline what the allowed weight is.
What does TSA lock mean?
If the cabin bag is equipped with a TSA lock, it means the lock is part of the worldwide “Travel Sentry” system, which allows customs authorities to open the locks with a special key without having to break the lock. This special key is only held by customs authorities, and the system is closely monitored, which means that as manufacturers, we can never help you open a lock if you have forgotten the code. We are often asked where the key for the lock is since the lock has a locking bolt; this is the locking bolt that belongs to the TSA system.
Is there a warranty on an EPIC cabin bag?
All cabin bags from EPIC are quality controlled and come with generous warranties. We offer up to 7 years “Full Armor” warranty on the top models, which means that if the bag’s shell breaks, we will replace it anywhere in the world. Sometimes things happen to a cabin bag or suitcase when it is checked in, things that we as manufacturers can never foresee or protect against. A suitcase should withstand a lot but also be lightweight, which means we cannot protect against everything, and if your suitcase is damaged during check-in in a way that clearly is not a manufacturing defect, you must contact the airline upon arrival to get compensation for your damaged suitcase.
All warranties cover manufacturing defects, not wear and tear.
Tips when traveling with only hand luggage
Think through your packing: what is absolutely necessary to bring on the trip? Pants and shirts are folded and rolled to avoid wrinkles. Socks are packed inside shoes to save space. The heaviest items are placed closest to the wheels for the best balance when rolling the bag. Liquids, perfumes, toothpaste, and so on should be easily accessible to be taken out and packed in the special bag for separate screening at airport security. Laptop and tablet should also be easily accessible as they must be taken out and screened separately at security. Be careful not to overload your cabin bag as cabin bags are often weighed; there must not be too much weight in the overhead compartments on the plane. The most important thing is to carefully check the hand luggage rules on the airline’s website to avoid the unpleasant event that your cabin bag does not meet the size requirements and must be checked in at an expensive extra cost. Airlines’ now costly fees for checked baggage mean more and more people choose to travel with only hand luggage, which often fills the overhead bins quickly. In such cases, the airline will check in your cabin bag free of charge as there simply is no space in the cabin for all hand luggage. Make sure to take out everything you need during the trip such as passport, tickets, newspapers, tablet, and more.
Have a nice trip!
